River Fishing
Fishing in rivers means only one thing in Ireland: Atlantic Salmon. Although there are fewer compared to the legendary golden years of river ascents, salmon can still be caught in good numbers in Ireland. From July to September, grilse salmon—young salmon that ascend rivers for the first time to spawn—are abundant. In spring, there are, in smaller quantities, spring salmon, which are older specimens that can reach record sizes. We will be happy to arrange daily trips to nearby rivers (Cong River, Screebe Lakes, and Ballinainch River). To fish for salmon, it is necessary to book the fishing pool on the river well in advance, and a daily license is also required, which can be purchased directly at the lodge.
